Posted January 08, 2019 05:33:07Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has warned that the world needs to prepare for a massive earthquake that is expected to hit Japan sometime between January 10 and January 13.
Abe has previously called the tsunami a “natural disaster” that will happen sometime between now and January 15.
The country’s government has said that a disaster warning was issued for the quake, but has not provided any further details about what exactly that might mean.
“I’m going to call a meeting of the cabinet,” Abe told reporters after his inauguration on January 7.
“The earthquake is an act of nature.
It’s going to happen.”
The earthquake was felt in a dozen other Japanese cities on Monday, including Yokohama and Tokyo, but no casualties were reported.
In the wake of the earthquake, Abe pledged to do more to protect the country from a tsunami that could damage the coastline and cause major damage to homes and infrastructure.
“We are taking all possible measures to safeguard the country,” he said.
